General Nadeem Raza assumes charge as CJCSC
General Nadeem Raza has assumed charge as Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC), an ISPR statement stated.
General Nadeem Raza took charge as CJCSC during a ceremony at Joint Staff Headquarters on Wednesday, ISPR statement added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed General Nadeem Raza as CJCSC on November 21.
General Nadeem Raza has replaced General Zubair Hayat, who retired today (November 27). He got commission in 10 Sindh Regiment in Pakistan Army in September 1985. He was designated as commandant of Pakistan Military Academy. He also headed the infantry division in South Waziristan.
Raza had served as Core Commander Rawalpindi in 2016. He was discharging his duties as the Chief of General Staff since August 2018.
The CJCSC, in principle, is the highest-ranking military officer across the armed forces.
He serves as the government's top adviser on matters related to national defence and security. His job description also includes cross-service cooperation in all military processes.
