ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in federal capital has adjourned the trials in the graft references against ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Aaj News reported. 

Sharif along with his daughter arrived at the Islamabad airport from Lahore and were driven to the accountability court in a motorcade.

The hearing was adjourns moments after it commenced as Sharif's defence counsel, Khawaja Harris was unable to attend the proceedings.

Sharif requested the investigators to suspend proceedings until the Islamabad High Court (IHC) announces its verdict in a petition pertaining to the clubbing of references.

Sharif's son in-law and Maryam's husband, Captain (retired) Mohammad Safdar, was also present in the court during the hearing.

Earlier on Monday, the accountability court adjourned the hearing due to the absence of lawyers and witnesses who were unable to reach the court due to ongoing protest on Faizabad interchange.

On Nov 15th hearing, the court accepted Sharif and Maryam's exemption applications, however an abrupt change in plans resulted in former PM appearing before the court in Nov 22 hearing.

The two had sought exemption on the account of the medical condition of Nawaz's wife, Kulsoom, who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma in London.
