KABUL: In Afghanistan, 29 people, including Taliban fighters and civilians have been killed and seven others injured in an overnight airstrike by the Afghan security forces against Taliban in Herat province.

A spokesman for the provincial government said the target of the strike was a Taliban base and a prison run by the insurgents.

He said the prison was destroyed and nineteen prisoners escaped.—Radio Pakistan
