ISLAMABAD: A formal welcome ceremony in honour of new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was held at the PM house in Islamabad.

On the occasion, National anthem was played. A smartly turned out contingent of the armed forces presented salute to him. He also inspected the guard of honour.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had taken oath of the office on 1st August after being elected to the top slot. He has been in politics since 1988 and won the election of member of national assembly six times.

In former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's cabinet, he was the minister of petroleum and natural resources.—Radio Pakistan
