LAHORE: Epilepsy is a cureable disease which can be successfully treated by regular use of medicines.

Talking to the media in connection with World Epilepsy Day here on Sunday, Dr. Shahid Mukhtar, Assistant Professor of Neurology, Lahore General Hospital said that epilepsy was very common in Pakistan and approximately 2 million people were suffering from this disease in the country.

He said that awareness level about epilepsy was very low in Pakistan. A large number of people consider this ailment the actions of 'ghosts' and did not go to doctors.

Dr. Shahid Mukhtar said that epilepsy was a hundred percent curable disease and a neuro-physician or qualified doctor could be approached to get rid of this ailment.

He said that treatment of epilepsy was a long time process and patients should not stop taking medicine without consulting their doctors. -APP
