PEHSAWAR: Unknown assailants on Saturday gun down Deputy Superintendent of Police Riaz Ul Islam, Aaj News reported.

According to reports, DSP Riaz-ul-Islam was martyred when unknown terrorists targeted his vehicle at Faqir Abad area of Peshawar on Saturday evening.

After the attack assailants manage to flee away from the scene.

Police in a statement said that, DSP was critically injured in the firing while his son sustain injuries.

Riaz Ul Islam succumbed to his injuries on the way to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, official added.

An investigation has been launched by police to apprehend the culprits.
