QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif on Tuesday reached Quetta this morning after a deadly terrorists attack on a police training college in the provincial capital, Aaj News reported.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS is accompanied by the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar and the Director General Military Intelligence Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj.

The army chief visited the police training academy where he reviewed the security situation.

Unknown armed militants wearing suicide vests stormed a Pakistani police academy, killing at least 61 people and wounding 122, in one of the deadliest extremist attacks this year.

The army chief met police officials, army and Frontier Corps troops who carried out the operation last night. He appreciated the morale and courage of security forces personnel for preventing further damage in the last night's deadliest attack.

Gen Raheel is expected to visit a hospital to see those who were injured in the attack, sources said. Sources said that COAS will visit Headquarters Quetta as well and inquire about the operation against terrorists.
