KARACHI: The opposition in the Sindh Assembly has rejected the provincial budget for the fiscal 2016-17 terming it as`anti-people'.

The Sindh Finance Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, had presented the bill in Sindh Assembly on Saturday.

Talking to media outside the Assembly Hall, the leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan, described the provincial budget as mere `jugglery of words' as well as `anti-people'.

He also alleged that `the corruption in the province of Sindh was at its peak'.

The opposition leader in Sindh Assembly was of the view that there were no new mega projects in the budget for Karachi and Hyderabad.

He further maintained that the schemes that have been mentioned were not sufficient.

"We also reject the new taxes that have been imposed in this budget", Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan added.

He said that the provincial government claims that agriculture has been accorded priority in the provincial budget whereas there is 30 percent increase in the prices of vegetables as well as those of eatables have also gone up.

The opposition leader was of the view that the budget was present during the month of Ramazan while there was no `Ramzan Package' in the budget.

He alleged that there were concessions in the budget for what he termed commission mafia.

Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan maintained that there was no mega project for Thar and rural Sindh. -APP
