PC endorses decision to boycott Bonn Conference

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Friday endorsed the decision to boycott the Bonn Conference in protest against Nato attacks.

Committee Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani was presiding over the special meeting, attended by DG Military Operations Major General Ashfaq Nadeem, Interior Ministre Rehman Malik, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan and others.

The Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani briefed the meeting on cabinet measures. He told the meeting that a special meeting of the cabinet was called after the Nato attack, suspending Nato supplies and asking US to vacate Shamsi Air Base.

He said that the cabinet also decided not to attend Bonn Conference on Afghanistan future.

He said that the decision was taken in the larger interest of the country.

Major General Ashfaq Nadeem Also briefed the participant about Nato attacks. He told that according to ISI reports the Nato attack was not a mistake instead it was a deliberate assault.

The committee also endorsed the decisions to stop Nato supplies and asking the US to vacate the Shamsi airbase which were made during the meeting of the Defence Committee.
