MQM quits government

Updated 28 Jun, 2011 06:20am

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday announced to quit from the Pakistan People's Party led governments in centre and Sindh.

In a news conference MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that MQM had unconditionally extended its support to the PPP government for the cause of democracy.

He said that despite criticism of opposition parties, MQM continued to support the government. The MQM leadership and workers have reached the conclusion it is difficult to go along with the Pakistan People's Party, keeping in view its democratic and dictatorial attitude," he said.

Dr. Sattar said that MQM would sit on opposition benches in centre and Sindh.
