Wet spell to benefit crops: experts
Monday, 8 Feb, 2010 9:00 pm
LAHORE : Widespread rains have been reported from different parts of the country, bringing an end to a drought-like situation on Monday.

According to meteorologists, the wet spell is likely to continue for the next 24 hours while snowfall is expected over hills in upper NWFP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during this period.

Temperature is likely to rise after the end of the recent rain spell while the moderate weather is likely to prevail over the plains of Punjab.

Agriculture expert Nawaz Bhatti, talking to APP, termed the current wet spell benificial for crops and water resrviors, especially wheat and gram, in rain-fed areas in the country.
