Islamabad: A major one-day plantation campaign named ‘Plant for Pakistan’ is starting from today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to inaugurate the campaign by planting a sapling in the federal capital.
The purpose of the campaign is to encourage people, communities, organizations, business and industry, civil society and government to collectively plant trees.
About 1.5 million trees will be planted under the campaign as part of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government’s ten billion tree Tsunami 2018 drive.
During the campaign, people will be given free of cost saplings at one hundred and ninety distribution points across the country.
Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad says Climate Change is one of the main issues that Prime Minister Imran’s government aims to tackle through initiatives like tree plantation.
While participating in a Tree Plantation Drive “Plant for Pakistan” at Kural Chowk Islamabad, Minister said three Nurseries will be established in Rawalpindi.
