ISLAMABAD: As Emojis have become an everyday affair ,World Emoji Day was celebrated elsewhere in the world including Pakistan on July 17 (today).
Emoji may not have replaced text just yet, but they are quite close. On July 17, we celebrate World Emoji Day to mark the graphic icons who have very well revolutionised digital communication.
The day is held on July 17 each year.The purpose of World Emoji Day is to promote the use emojis and spread the enjoyment that they bring to all of those around us.
In recent years, these little Pictionary forms have risen to socially accepted prominence, infiltrating all corners of our talking! From WhatsApp to Facebook, Twitter to Instagram and sometimes even in work emails, we use emojis everywhere.
While this day has been declared a global celebration of Emojis, it is primarily recognized among netizens throughout social media. If you have browsed through social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, you have seen your friends using #WorldEmojiDay as they share their favourite symbols.
World Emoji Day is the brainchild of Jeremy Burge who stated that London-based founder of Emojipedia created it in 2014.
Like other countries in the world, Pakistan too, enjoys its fair share of using emojis whilst texting and Whatsapping their friends and families. However, in certain situations, us Pakistanis miss out on the emojis perfect for certain situations.
