Plane loses pressure and plunges 25,000 feet due to E-Cigarette



Web Desk: Smoking is strictly prohibited on-board. But this rule equally applies to plane’s pilot? Recently, in China, smoking of a pilot led to the emergency landing of Air China airline.

The co-pilot of an Air China flight that plummeted 25,000 feet in 10 minutes on Tuesday was smoking an electronic cigarette and made an error that forced the plane’s emergency descent, reported South China Morning Post report.

According to Civil Aviation Administration of China, investigation revealed that the co-pilot had, attempted to turn off a circulation fan to prevent smoke from reaching the cabin. Later on, cabin made an announcement saying that the Dalian-bound flight from Hong Kong suddenly descended to 25,000 feet from 35,000 feet.

The incident occurred on July 10 and preliminary investigation conducted on July 12.
