Web Desk: Restaurants around the world give new services, offers and deals in the aim of it’s promotion and grabbing the attention of the people. A Chinese company recently offered a generous service but sadly it turned against it.
The owners of the Chinese company offered a generous all-you-can-eat deal have been bankrupted by their customers in less than two weeks.
Reportedly, their offer caused heavy debts to the owners as they had to close down after some customers stayed in the store for an entire day to eat several meals.
In order to take full advantage of the offer, people started queuing outside the restaurant as early as 8am.
They introduced the buffet deal on June 1, inviting any customers with a membership card to eat there as much as they wanted for 120 Yuan (Rs. 2250), a month.
Some customers also took each others’ membership card so they could enjoy meal without paying. The restaurant’s shareholders stated, ‘The key cause of the failure was that we hadn’t used the facial recognition system.’
The restaurant opened last December and its business was poor. The offer was launched in the hope of attracting more customers. This tactic brought hundreds of people per day. Waiters had to work more than 10 hours to serve the crowd. But sadly, in just 11 days they realized the business was hard to sustain.
The restaurant ran into 500,000 Yuan debts in 11 days after selling 1,700 membership cards.
