ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday extended the polling time for general elections which will be held on 25th of next month, Aaj News reported.
The polling will begin at eight in the morning and will continue till 6 pm without any break.
Previously on Wednesday, ECP dismissed PTI’s request to extend the polling duration of general elections stating that, the polling time will remain 8 to 5 pm as it can not be changed.
On Tuesday, PTI wrote a letter to secretary ECP requesting for an extension in the polling for elections. The party argued that climatic change (rain, hot weather) will deter people from leaving their houses in the morning to cast their votes, therefore, ECP should extend the polling time.
