Accountability Court Islamabad has adjourned the hearing of Avenfield reference against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members till Thursday to hire a new lawyer, Aaj News reported.

The hearing of Al-Azizia steel mills and Flagship investments references have been adjourned till 19th of this month after — a day after ousted PM’s counsel Khawaja Haris recused himself from representing the former prime minister.

As the hearing commenced today, accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir asked Sharif if he wants to hire another lawyer or continue with Haris.

“My counsel had full awareness of the case as he was handling the case for the past 9 months,” said Nawaz.

Its quite hard for me to find a new counsel at this stage plus it would take time for the new lawyer to make understanding of the case.

Yesterday, Khawaja Haris, former counsel of ex-PM requested the court for withdrawal of his paper of attorney (wakalatnama). Haris in his request, expressed inability to continue to work citing different reasons.

He said his stance has not been given due consideration by the Supreme Court. Besides, it was dictated to hold hearings on weekends.
