Web Desk: Model Mariah Idrissi, 25, revealed that she had lost the job because one of the outlets thought she would limit the audience because she is a Muslim. It was shocking for her that the outlet refused to take her on the board just because she wore a hijab.
While speaking on the ITV News series Young, British and Muslim, the model said, ‘There was a very big deal that was about to go through and one of the outlets that need to sign it off refused on the basis that we think Mariah wearing a hijab is going to limit the audience because she is a Muslim.”
“Nothing to do with my personality, just the fact that I wear a hijab they though their audience wouldn’t but the product,” she added.
Mariah did not reveal the name of outlet and beauty brand involved in the campaign.
In 2015, Mariah Idrissi rose to fame after becoming the first hijab-wearing woman to star in an H&M campaign.
Since landing her H&M campaign, the model has appeared in a range of magazines including the likes of Elle, Marie Claire and Teen Vogue.
