SC took notice of delaying the extension of accountability court judge


ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday, has taken suo moto notice of not expanding the employment term of the Accountability Court judge, Mohammad Bashir, Aaj News reported. 

Chief Justice remarked that Justice Mohammad Bashir, who is hearing the reference case against Nawaz Shareef, his employment term is about to end.

Therefore Justice Saqib Nisar recommended the government to expand his employment terms, in which nothing has been done by the government yet.

Justice Nisar immediately summoned Law Secretary and asked about the further proceeding of the summary. Earlier, on February 28, Federal Law Minister asked to submit the name for the judge’s appointment.

Judge Bashir has been conducting the proceedings since September last year, when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed three corruption references against Nawaz and his family and one against then-finance minister Ishaq Dar in light of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case.
