Rao Anwar still at large, SC order ISI, MI to submit report

KARACHI: Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered civil and military agencies on Monday to present a report regarding the arrest of former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Rao Anwar, Aaj News reported.

SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar resumed the suo-motu case of Naqeeb Ullah Mehsud. IG Sindh, A.D Khawaja presented him self before the court.

To a question related to the arrest of former SSP, A.D Khawaja stated that one of the close aide of Anwar has been arrested, however the main accused is still at large.

CJP has instructed MI and ISI to submit a detailed report in this matter.

Mehsud, a 27-year-old resident of Waziristan, was among three who were unjustly killed by Anwar in Karachi after the former accused them of being terrorist on January 13. Following an uproar and protest emerged all over the country, demanding a through investigation into the encounter.

Court ordered an investigation into the matter, which later determined that Naqeeb was killed in a fake encounter by former SSP.

Following the report, Anwar along with his aides mysteriously disappeared.
