KARACHI: Federal Anti-corruption court has indicted 25 suspects including former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, in the case of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) corruption, Aaj News reported.

On Thursday, anti-corruption court of Karachi conducted hearing of twenty-six cases in which 25 people were found guilty in the case of TDAP corruption. The convicts however refused to accept the charges.

Following the verdict, several suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges upon which the court gave them two weeks to submit their reply. The court also summoned witnesses in the same hearing scheduled for April 11.

The former premier and others were charge-sheeted in more than 70 similar cases while a dozen more cases are in the pipeline for final investigation.

While speaking about the meeting held between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief Justice Pakistan Saqib Nisar, he said, “There are doubts about this meeting, I respect Shahid’s Khaqan Abbasi but it was not the right time to meet Chief Justice.”

“I never met the Chief Justice as a Prime Minister.”

Gillani’s lawyer declared all cases lie and stated, “Such allegations on former prime minister are insulting the state, who is behind those cases, everyone knows but should not take the name.”

Court summoned the witnesses and adjourned the case till April 16.
