CJP bars officers to protest over Ahad Cheema arrest


Lahore: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that no officer will protest against the arrest of Ahad Cheema.

On Saturday, a hearing headed by Justice Saqib Nisar in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry, was conducted in the case of arresting former DGLDA Ahad Cheema by NAB. The Chief Justice forbade officials to protest against Cheema’s arrest.

Chief Justice gave a remark that officers were not allowed to protest, if anyone wanted to resign then he could, adding that, those who had been summoned, should cooperate.

The Justice also asked, “Who is Ahad Cheema and where is he today?

Responding to Justice, DGLDA said, “Ahad Cheema is the COE of Quaid-e-Azam power plant and currently, he is in NAB custody.”

Justice Saqib Nisar also questioned about the salary of Ahad Cheema. Justice Secretary responded, “DMG officers take one lakh rupees, while Ahad Cheema was taking a salary of around fifteen lakhs.”

Court directed to submit all the records of Ahad Cheema including his service profile and salary and privileges.
