Talal’s counsel granted one week for contempt case preparation


Islamabad: Supreme Court has granted one week to the counsel of State Minister for Interior and Muslim League’s leader Talal Chaudhry for the preparation of court contempt case.

Three-member bench, consisting of Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Faisal Arab and led by Justice Ijaz Afzal heard the court contempt case of Muslim League’s leader Talal Chaudhry, on Monday.

During hearing, Talal Chaudhary appeared in the court along with his counsel Kamran Murtaza.

Counsel Kamran Murtaza argued, ‘Asma Jahangir was dealing this case before me, but after her departure, I have been given this responsibility. However, I need ten days for case preparation.”

On the response of which Justice Ijaz Afzal gave remarks that time was given to Talal Chaudhry in the last hearing. However, the delay that you are demanding is not necessary.

Kamran said, “I am making demand due to my personal reasons and I am also a Senate member to which, I have to prepare.”

Justice Maqbool Baqar also remarked that it was the third hearing of this case. Copies had also been dispatched to all parties.”

After hearing the court, Kamal Murtaza gave a weekend to prepare for the case and also ordered to submit the replies till Monday.

Hearing of court contempt case has been adjourned till February 26.
