KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan chief Dr Farooq Sattar along with party member reached “Martyrs” monument in Azizabad’s Jinnah Ground on Saturday (today), Aaj News reported.
As soon as MQM-P leadership reached the monument, large number of party workers joined them.
Sattar offered Fateha at the graves of the party’s martyrs memorial and laid floral wreaths. He was accompanied by the party’s leadership including Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar, Kamran Tessori, Faisal Subzwari and others.
Talking to media out side party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad, Sattar termed the rejection as ‘childish’ stating that MQM-P was denied permission to rally due to security threats, adding that, Only MQM’s Raabta Committee has been allowed to visit ‘ Yadgar-e- Shuhada’.
Prior to the rally heavy contingents of police has been placed in the surrounding areas of Ayesha Manzil. Containers has been placed to thwart the supporters of MQM-P from entering the highly sensitive area.
Dr Sattar decided to stage the rally to pay homage to martyrs who lost their lives while struggling for the Mohajir cause. His application to permit his party to visit monument along with his party workers was rejected by the authorities.
Earlier on Friday, chief of MQM- P in a video statement posted on his Twitter account told his party’s workers and “Haq Parast” people that his party would march from Ayesha Manzil to the “Martyrs’ Monument” on Saturday at 3pm.
