KARACHI: As many as 18 more Chikungunya suspected cases have been reported throughout Karachi city, taking the patients toll to 4,656 in Sindh province since 1st January 2017.
As per report issued by Health Department Sindh, a total of 4,656 Chikungunya suspected cases have been reported across the province this year so far. A total of 18 Chikungunya suspected cases have surfaced in the city in first three days of November while 54 cases have been reported in a week.
In 2016, a total of 405 Chikungunya suspected cases had been reported from Karachi.
Experts said Chikungunya is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes and the major symptoms include high fever, joint pain, joint swelling, rash, headache, muscle pain, nausea and fatigue. The chikungunya is rarely fatal, while the death rate of the disease-affected people is less than one per cent.—PPI
