Couple killed in the name of honour in Karachi

KARACHI: Police on Monday exhumed the bodies of a married couple, who were killed in the pretext of honor on the order of a Jirga held two weeks ago in Mominabad area of the metropolis.

According to details, a 24-year-old man, Hadi and his 20-year-old unidentified wife hailing from Kohistan had contracted a freewill marriage and used to reside in a rented room in Karachi’s Mominabad area.

Seeing blood stains in the room, the house owner informed police. According to police, further investigation disclosed that the couple was killed on the order of elders’ council.

The police have arrested nine suspects involved in the murder of the woman and the man in the name of honor. Police said after receiving information from arrested accused, they exhumed the bodies of the couple buried in the Ittihad Town’s graveyard and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.—PPI
