ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has dismissed the references filled by Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s chief Imran Khan, seeking the disqualification of MNA Ayesha Gulali for violating party rules, Aaj News reported.
The reference filed under Article-63/A of the constitution cited that ECP should disqualify Gulalai from MNA ship as she decline to vote for party (PTI) supported candidate, Sheikh Rasheed.
The bench however rejected the reference by majority and gave the decision in favor of Gulali. Thereupon she will remain a member of national assembly (MNA).
PTI’s lawyer, during an earlier hearing, said that Gulalai had violated direct order from party’s chief when she decided not to skip the day of voting even though Khan had notified all party members to support the Awami Muslim League chief in a party meeting.
Gulalai, however, claimed that she had not participated in the vote due to an illness, but the PTI’s lawyer presented a record of television talk shows as proof on which Gulalai had appeared at the time of the session to speak about her decision to leave the PTI.
