ISLAMABAD: Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved nine projects, worth over three hundred ten billion rupees, which also includes the revival of Karachi circular railway track, Aaj News reproted.
The other projects approved by the Committee include doubling of railway track of 246 kilometers from Khanewal to Raiwind at a cost of 14.261 billion rupees, revival of Karachi Circular Railway at a cost of 207.546 billion rupees under CPEC framework, Provincial Roads Rehabilitation Project of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government at a cost of 17.103 billion rupees and construction of four-lane bridge across River Indus linking Layyah with Taunsa at a cost of 9.775 billion rupees.
Rupees 6.48 billion were approved for construction of Rathoa Haryam bridge and approaches across reservoir channel on Mirpur – Islamgarh Road.
Remodeling of Warsak Canal System in Peshawar and Nowshera will be done at a cost of 11.137 billion rupees on 50:50 cost sharing between Federal and provincial government.
Rupees 26.6 billion were approved for Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme 2015-17.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also chaired a meeting of Economic Coordination Committee.
The committee provisionally approved sovereign guarantee for thirty nine billion rupees for construction of 1320 megawatt Coal Power Project in Jamshoro.
Approval was also given to allocation of twelve million kilograms of surplus tobacco to all tobacco companies and dealers on pro-rata basis.
The meeting also approved to deregulate the margins on High-Speed Diesel for the Oil Marketing Companies and dealers under the policy of liberalization and deregulation.
