ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has directed for capacity building of security institutions to ensure effective security of projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He was chairing meeting of the Joint Working Group on Security of CPEC in Islamabad on Monday.
The Minister also gave instructions for activating coast guards for effective maritime security and sea lanes. He said security of sea lanes is inevitable for security of CPEC related projects.
Ahsan Iqbal said Chinese visiting Pakistan in connection with CPEC projects are our guests and attack on them would be considered an attack on Pakistan.
The Interior Minister said Pakistan has become centre of attention of the world because of CPEC projects. He said the Corridor would not only benefit people of Pakistan and China but the entire region.
He said meetings of the Joint Working Group should be held every month.
The meeting was informed that a task force has been created for provision of online information to provinces about visiting Chinese nationals.—Radio Pakistan
