ISLAMABAD: Moments after taking oath, the new sworn in Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has proposed establishment of a Special Committee of the National Assembly to probe allegations leveled by former Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf’s member, Ayesha Gulalai against Chairman of PTI Imran Khan.
He said the proceedings of the special committee should be held in-camera.
The Prime Minister said he is in parliamentary politics for the last thirty years and never witnessed such a situation. He said it is question of honour and dignity of the house and we have to enhance its prestige.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said investigations by the special committee would allow both sides to defend themselves.
Referring to the threats being received by Ayesha Gulalai, the Prime Minister said he has directed Inspector General Police Islamabad to provide her twenty-four hour security.
