RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa Thursday said that security threats have been diminished resulting into a congenial environment for development activities.

Addressing a seminar here, Bajwa said Raad-ul-Fasaad is just the beginning of a new phase, adding fight here onward has to be carried on by all organs of the state and its people.

He said youth is Pakistan’s investment in future. “Faceless and nameless hostile forces are polluting mind of youth through social media”.

Bajwa said that Pakistan Army is the only army in the world that has defeated terrorism of this scale.

He said “we must also find ways to ensure that the causes behind terrorism are addressed and National Action Plan is actualized”.

The army chief said it is unfair and dangerous to associate extremism with Islam.

Referring to the rising extremism in India, the army chief said it has given in to extremism and hate has been mainstreamed there.

He said Indian leadership has made no secret of its active involvement in proxy struggle in erstwhile East Pakistan and now in Balochistan.— Radio Pakistan
