ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conveyed its concern to Iran over the remarks of Iranian Army Chief.
Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost was called to the Foreign Office on Tuesday and conveyed Pakistan’s concern over the reported remarks of the Iranian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces regarding cross border action.
The Ambassador was told that such remarks are against the spirit of brotherly relations existing between the two countries.
Foreign Office pointed out that the frequency of high level exchanges from both sides has strengthened bilateral cooperation, and during the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Islamabad just recently, the two sides had agreed to enhance cooperation on the border issues.
The Iranian side was urged to avoid issuance of such statements, which may vitiate the environment of fraternal relations.—Radio Pakistan
