One dead, four injured in protest against power outages

MALAKAND: At least one person died and four others sustained injuries when protestors demanding uninterrupted power supply clashed with levies personnel in Dargai area of Malakand here on Monday.

Sources in DC office said hundreds of people mostly belonging to a political party took to main Malakand Road against power loadshedding in their area and stormed a Wapda office.

The protestors put furniture and other items on fire and smashed windowpanes.

The levies personnel were called in to contain the situation however the enraged protestors clashed with levies personnel and firing took place from both sides.

As result a PTI worker named Javed Khan was killed and four others including AC Malaknad Bahadur Khan sustained injuries.

The Wapda officials said that the feeder of Mian Khan and Old Palai was overloaded and arrangements have been finalized to distribute the load into two feeders that would correct the situation to a great extent.—APP
