Pemra employees have been threatened by unidentified people for taking action against different media outlets, said Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Absar Alam, while speaking at a press conference on Monday.

During the press conference, Chairman PEMRA stated that he can bear threats directed towards him but will not tolerate threats made to his employees and family.

He played the recording of a threatening phone call made by unidentified man and asked the law enforcement agencies to take serious against the culprits behind the threatening calls.

Alam requested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to hasten the legal works on notices issued by PEMRA, which have been halted and challenged by different high courts.
