KARACHI: The Sindh government on Saturday has approved extension in Rangers special powers for 90 more days in Karachi, Aaj News reported.
According to reports, the decision to add 90 days extension in Rangers power was made in the provincial cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah.
During the meeting CM Sindh lauded the role of Rangers in prevailing law and order situation in Karachi.
In September of 2013 federal government issued power to the security force to lead a targeted operation in Karachi to curb the elements causing the malice in the city.
The result of the operation was rather satisfying as a report issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) by the end of 2016 declared that a total of 1,992 operations were conducted in the city out of which 2,847 criminals were arrested.In which a total of 446 target killers and 350 terrorist were arrested.
The metropolis saw an incredible 91% drop in target killings while other terrorism related activities were also reduced to 72%.
