Pakistan, Afghanistan cooperation imperative to wipe out terrorism: Fatemi

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi has said that peaceful and political negotiations on the best solution of problems in Afghanistan.

Talking to Afghan Ambassador Hazrat Omer Zakhilwal who called on him, he said terrorism is a common threat and cooperation between the two countries is imperative to root out the menace.

Tariq Fatemi also highlighted efforts undertaken by Pakistan to facilitate an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.

He underlined the need for effective border management to prevent cross-border movement of terrorists.

The Afghan Ambassador stressed the need for a meaningful institutional engagement between Pakistan and Afghanistan to address common challenges and threats.

Both sides agreed for early implementation of mechanism recently evolved for boosting bilateral cooperation.—Radio Pakistan
