PM expresses desire to transform Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan ties into strategic partnership

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says Pakistan values its friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan and is keen to further strengthen these ties in all fields.    

Talking to a delegation led by Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament Tursunbekov Chynybal Akunovich, he said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy excellent political relations and strong defence cooperation.

He said cooperation between the two National Assemblies must grow to transform our special ties into a strategic partnership encompassing all areas of bilateral relations.

He said Pakistan is ready to share its parliamentary experience with Kyrgyz brothers and extended the offer to organize courses at the institute of Parliamentary Services in Islamabad.

Nawaz Sharif emphasized that both the countries should facilitate interaction between business communities and investors to promote trade and joint ventures.

Meanwhile, Speaker Kyrgyz Parliament accompanied by a formal delegation also called on Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Asif emphasized the need to develop more economical routes to facilitate trade and cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Expressing the importance of bilateral relationship between the two countries, the Minister mentioned that projects like CASA 1000 proved to be a major milestone in establishing socio-economic connectivity between the two countries.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the ongoing project, which would benefit Pakistan’s energy demand by providing 1300 MW of electricity.—Radio Pakistan
