Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati’s shooting was disrupted yet again and this time in Kolhapur. When the whole set was vandalized and set on blaze by angry mobs in early morning hours.
According to PinkVilla, Shobha Sant, CEO Bhansali Productions said, “Yes, a few people entered and had put the set on fire in the early morning hours. There is no damage to life or properties as such. The main cast wasn’t present at that time. However, our costumes are completely damaged.”
The team will be lodging an official complaint against the unidentified arsonist, said Shobha.
Earlier this year in January, members of the Karni Sena had attacked Bhansali as they vandalised the sets at Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur. The members accused the makers of distorting history for the movie.
Narayan Divrala, district president, Karni Sena was quoted saying by a leading daily.
“We have learnt that the filmmakers are portraying the film as a love story between Alauddin Khilji and Padmini, which is a blatant distortion of history. That is why we stopped the shooting and told the makers that we won’t let them continue unless they make changes,”
However, the filmmaker in a meeting held with the leaders of the community had assured them of not distorting the facts.
The historic drama stars Shahid Kapoor and rumoured couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, and is expected to release by the year end only if the troubles surrounding this movie ends.
