IHC adjourns PTI foreign funding case till Feb 14

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Monday adjourned Imran Khan’s petition challenging ECP’s decision of ordering examination of audited accounts of PTI on the allegations of receiving foreign funding, till February, 14.

A divisional bench comprising Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Aamir Farooq adjourned the case due to shortage of time.

Earlier, Anwar Mansoor counsel for the PTI argued that ECP had no jurisdiction to entertain such applications.

He said that assuming jurisdiction and opening past and closed transactions was in violation of laws adding that Akbar S Babar who approached ECP had no locus stand under Article 6 of the PPO, 2002 as well.

Talking to the media outside the IHC premises, Daniyal Aziz leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) said that instead of providing money trail to ECP, PTI was trying to find excuses.

Aziz said if the PTI had nothing to hide then why it was seeking stay orders and not let the ECP to examine its accounts.—APP
