Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited South Waziristan Agency (SWA) and lauded local administration and tribal brethren for supporting Army, Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Director General ISPR, Asif Ghafoor, Army chief on his arrival was briefed by GOC about the security and stability situation of SWA including border management and rehabilitation of ‘Temporary Displaced Persons’ (TDPs), adding to this, COAS expressed his satisfaction over the developmental works and measures for better border security management.
Gen Bajwa directed the concerned authorities to continue the socio economic development of the area for long lasting peace.
COAS lauded the local administration and tribal brethren of SWA for supporting Army’s efforts for achieving peace and stability. He vows to support the ‘mainstreaming’ of FATA by the government as per desire of local tribesmen.
Army chief also acknowledge the commitment and bravery of troops which helped restore writ of state in the area.
Earlier, on arrival at COAS was received by Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt, Commander Peshawar Corps.
