LAHORE: Due to efforts of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, a nine years old orphan girl and her mother have got back their 6.5-kanal land, illegally occupied by her grandmother and two real uncles.
OPC Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, while giving details, said that after the death of Greece-based Irfan Shahzad, his mother, Irshad Begum, and two brothers Iftikhar and Noman illegally occupied his 6.5-kanal land in Gujranwala and refused to give the property to his (Irfan’s) widow and his minor daughter Khushbakht.
After receiving a complaint from Irfan’s widow, Sadia Irfan, the OPC referred the matter to District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Gujranwala.
Shaheen Butt and Afzaal Bhatti further disclosed that the late Irfan’s brother Iftikhar also succeeded in using his brother’s documents for reaching Greece and settling there as Irfan; However, after filing of a complaint by the OPC against him in Greece, he was deported and was arrested in Pakistan.
Widow of Irfan Sadia and her daughter Kushbakhat have thanked the OPC for their continuous support and perusal of the case till its logical end.—APP
