ISLAMABAD: During the proceedings of Panamagate case against PM Nawaz, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said the FBR and FIA have not done their job, if these institutions do not want to work, why not close them, Aaj News reported.
During the hearing of Panama papers case, once again Jamaat e Islami’s lawyer filed a petition to form commission. Later, the court has kept its options open.”We will form a commission if we feel the need to”, said CJ.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Bukhari drew the court’s attention towards Maryam Nawaz as dependent of Nawaz Sharif. “I have evidence to prove that Maryam Nawaz is dependent on the Prime Minister,” Bukhari said.
Bukha further said, “Between 2014 and 2015 received Rs740 million as gift from Hussain Nawaz. The Prime Minister did not give tax on these gifts,” he said.
Justice Azmat Saeed said that the court will have to see how the law defines ‘dependents’.
Salman Butt, the counsel of the Prime Minister submitted before the bench that Maryum Nawaz is not dependent on his client. He referred to the income tax returns as well as the nomination papers filed by his client in 2013 saying all details about properties were declared in them and nothing was withheld.
‘Panama case should not linger on for a longer period of time’, Khan
Talking to media outside Supreme Court PTI supremo Imran Khan said that the Panama case should not linger on for a longer period of time. Taking at potshot at Sharif family he said he is going to listen to bunch of lies.
Meanwhile, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi also talked to the media and claimed that the panamagate case has been entered its final phase. He compared ‘commission’ with the light of truck.
Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed also shared his views, said that the government is very nervous. “It is submitting new documents everyday. We will accept whatever decision the court takes,” he said.
