Recipe of the day: Fried Fish and Chips


  • Fish flay ½ kg
  • Egg 1
  • Oil for frying
  • Chilled water 1 cup
  • Plain flour 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper powder to taste
  • Vinegar 1 tsp
  • Baking powder ¼ tsp
  • For Potato Chips:
  • Potato 1/2 kg
  • Corn flour 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Cut fish flay into 8 pieces.
  2. Apply vinegar and leave aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, egg and water in a large bowl to make batter.
  4. Coat fish pieces in the batter and deep fry till golden brown.
  5. For Potato Chips: Cut potato in ¼ inch thick chips.
  6. Soak in chilled water for 40 minutes and strain.
  7. Fry in hot oil for 2 minutes and drain on a paper towel.
  8. Coat fries with ¼ cup corn flour and put them in freezer.
  9. Fry the frozen chips in hot oil until golden.
  10. Season with salt and serve with fish, lemon quarter, mushy peas and tartar sauce.
