PTI accuses ministers of violating the court’s order

Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Naeemul Haq on Tuesday accused the federal ministers of violating the court’s order by talking to media persons about the Panama Leaks case within the court premises. Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and Minister for Defence and Water and Power Khawaja Asif talked to media persons about the case after the hearing concluded.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan, however, left the Supreme Court for his residence without talking to media persons, present in premises of the court. Haq said the ministers’ attitude showed that their rule was in danger. “This case is related to Sharif family and not to the government of Pakistan,” he said, adding the ministers had been violating their oath by defending the Sharif family in the Panama case.

He claimed the government had been using all tactics to protect Sharif family in the case, but a lot of documentary evidence regarding corruption and tax evasion of Sharifs had been submitted with the Supreme Court. The truth would prevail soon, he said, adding the ministers had been telling more lies to hide the previous lie.

Earlier talking to media persons, Khawaja Asif said both the parties were in the Supreme Court and they were hopeful for justice. All claims made by the PTI in the Panama Leaks case had proved hollow, he claimed, adding the courts vindicated PML-N’s stance in the past and hopefully the party would again remain successful. Talking to media persons, Saad Rafique came down hard on the Chairman PTI. He said PML-N would continue serving the masses under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He prayed for Allah’s guidance to their political opponents.

Rafique claimed that politics of his opponents was based on lies and those lies were exposing them in public now. Sheikh Rashid is taking remarks of the judges as his appreciation, but the judges in fact asked him to leave politics and do something else, he said, adding that Rashid had managed to gather only a few people on his recent protest call in Rawalpindi.

Talking to media persons, Rashid, however, criticised the government over its failure to raise the border issues with India effectively. “Shah Noorani shrine and Line of Control (LoC) were targeted due to Panama Leaks case here … but the government has stuck in quagmire of the Panama case,” he added.

Sheikh Rashid said Sharifs had presented some documents of a Qatari dignitary before the Supreme Court to get out of the case and they could also present some documents from India too. He also accused the government of tampering the documents which were being presented before the Supreme Court as evidence in the Panama Leaks case. All eyes were now set on the Supreme Court as the nation was waiting for justice in the case, he said.

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Senator Sirajul Haq said his party wanted the Supreme Court to constitute a commission on the Panama case, so that all those who looted the country could be held accountable. He urged the whole nation to become part of the JI’s accountability campaign. “We want to see looters of the country in Adiala Jail …. we want to see them handcuffed,” he said. Haq expressed his satisfaction over proceedings of the court.
