The funeral prayer of Senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Jahangir Badar has been offered in Lahore. A large number of people belonging to different walks of life participated in the funeral prayer.
According to family sources, he was rushed to a hospital but could not regain health.
He became a member National Assembly from Lahore in 1988.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have expressed heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of renowned politician Jahangir Badar.
Paying rich tributes to the services of the late politician, the President said the contributions of late Jahangir Badar towards strengthening of democracy in the country would always be remembered. He prayed for the departed soul to rest an eternal peace and tranquility.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his condolence message paid rich tribute to political struggle. He said Jahangir Badar was a great political asset who believed and worked for the promotion of democratic norms in our country.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of PPP leader.
PPP announces 3-day mourning on Jehangir Badar’s death
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Monday announced a three-day mourning following the death of party’s stalwart and senior leader Jehangir Badar.
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the three-day mourning, to be observed across the country by PPP, and canceled his scheduled engagements.
In a condolence message here issued by the party secretariat, Bilawal Bhutto expressed shock and pain over the demise of party’s senior leader and former secretary general Jehangir Badar.
Paying glowing tribute for his unshakable loyalty, commitment and conviction to “Bhuttoism” during his whole life, he said that Jehangir Badar was a ‘Jiyala’ who fought against ruthless martial laws.
The deceased braved imprisonments and torture but stood steadfast and committed to Bhuttoism under Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and entire decades of party’s struggle till his last breathe, he added.
Bilawal expressed sympathies with the members of bereaved family and all the Jiyalas, adding “Jehangir Badar will continue to illuminate in our memories as a brave party leader, worker and a tall symbol of loyalty to Bhuttoism and democracy.” -APP
