Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria while talking to RadioPakistan on Friday says India will have to face consequences if it violates the Indus Waters Treaty.
World Bank is the guarantor of the agreement, and India cannot unilaterally withdraw from it, said Zakaria
He said that, action will be taken against India for any violations under international law as well because low riparian countries have their rights on water.
To a question, Zakaria said targeting of innocent civilians in the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) is being highlighted at international fora.
He also said that, the heads of the missions of the five UN Security Council permanent members in Islamabad were briefed on the LoC situation today. The matter was raised at the United Nations forum as well.
