Curfew imposed in Khyber Agency after Jamrud attack


KHYBER AGENCY: A personnel of Khasadar force was killed and three Frontier Corp (FC) soldiers received injuries when some unknown armed persons attacked Takhta Baig check-post of tehsil Jamrud of Khyber Agency.

Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jamrud, Ziaurrehman Marwat said that last night(Saturday) between 09:30pm to 10pm some unidentified persons, equipped with heavy and sophisticated weapons attacked at the Takhta Baig check-post and in indiscriminate firing, consequently a Khasadar force personnel was killed, and wounded three Frontier Corp (FC) soldiers. While, the militants were forced to fled of the scene, after retaliation Immediately after an incident, reinforcement moved to the check-point, cordoned off of the whole area and took the injured and the body to the nearest health center.

The deceased Khasadar was identified as Shahid Khan who was laid to rest on Sunday morning in his ancestral graveyard in Jaba village of tehsil Jamrud. The next morning on Sunday the security forces agencies imposed curfew and launched a massive search operation in Ali Masjid, Shagai, Bhagyari, Sur Kamar, Shahkas, Wazir Dand and other areas of Jamrud to trace the culprits,

APA Marwat maintained and adding two high profile militant commanders were also apprehended and were shifted to undisclosed destination for interrogation. The forces official told that in the combined operation carried out by the forces and the administration netted the allegedly killer and was taken to forces cantonment for investigation. Huge quantity of explosive and arms were also recovered during the search and were transported to the Fort Slope, Bara for media display ,he added.

Due to forces operation, the Pak-Afghan highway was suspended for all kind of movement for more than seven hours that multiplied problems of locals as well as passengers coming from across the border, Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the political administration Khyber Agency further enhanced security measures at the check-post and deployed extra Levies and Khasadar persons to avoid any untoward happen.
