Three alleged militants held in Balochistan operation

QUETTA: The Frontier Corps Balochistan arrested three alleged militants during search operation carried out in Quetta, Kalat and Pishin areas of the province, on Sunday.

A spokesman for FC said here that following intelligence information, FC teams launched search operation in several areas of the province and arrested three suspected militants from Quetta, Kalat and Pishin districts.

“A suspect has been taken into custody from Killi Geo area of Quetta city who allegedly has relations with banned militant organization, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi,” he said.

He further said that FC personnel launched search operation in Kalat and arrested a suspected militant from a hotel on National Highway, adding that mortar tripod, four mortar rounds and fuzes were seized from the suspect.

The FC mouthpiece said that FC also carried out search operation in bazaar in Pishin where a suspect was held who allegedly has his relations with banned militant organization, Tehreek Taliban Pakistan.

The FC special investigation teams have been interrogating the suspects. Further probe was underway. -APP

Four killed in millitant attack in Quetta

At least four people including three FC soldiers and a policeman were killed and three others got injured when gunmen opened fire at a check point in Quetta on Saturday.

“A policeman and three FC soldier were killed while two other paramilitary soldiers were injured when gunmen opened fire on them in Quetta,” local police official Syed Zahid Hussain told AFP, adding a passerby was also hit.

The FC soldiers appeared to be the targets of the attack, Zahid said. The incident was also confirmed by a spokesman from the local paramilitary force.

The shooting was later claimed by the Al-Alami faction of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) group, according to a statement released by a spokesman.

Last month, the outfit said it worked with the Islamic State group to execute a massive night raid on a police college that killed 61 people, the deadliest assault on a security installation in Pakistan’s history.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of FC personnel in Quetta.

In his message, he said that such cowardice acts of terrorism cannot deter the national resolve against terrorism.

The Prime Minister said that war against terrorism will be brought to its logical conclusion.

He said FC personnel laid their lives in the way of their sacred national duty. He said that imperishable sacrifices of the martyred personnel will always be remembered.-AFP/AajNews
