LAHORE: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) spokesperson here Sunday clarified that Mangla Hydel Power Station did not develop any fault last night and continued to generate electricity in accordance with water outflows as per IRSA (Indus River System Authority) indent.
Refuting a news item appeared in a section of media on October 2, 2016 wherein it was reported that some turbines of Mangla Power Plant stopped functioning due to technical fault which caused sudden power failure, he explained that Mangla Power station generated 1,115 MW electricity during the peak hours yesterday, which was even 115 MW more than its cumulative generation capacity i.e. 1000 MW.
Therefore, he added, the impression given in the news item that technical fault at Mangla last night caused sudden power failure is not correct.
The spokesperson also mentioned that all hydel power stations of WAPDA had been functional and generating electricity according to water outflows as per IRSA’s indent. -APP
