Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority) to expedite building of water reservoirs across the country, for increased electricity generation and flood control.
The Prime Minister in a meeting with Chairman WAPDA Zafar Mahmood here at the PM House, directed him to fast-track work on development projects and further explore the potential of huge hydropower generation.

“We are aiming to produce cheap and affordable electricity and also address the issue of water shortage, particularly in view of averting acute water challenges in coming times,” he said.
The Prime Minister said generation of affordable and clean electricity would not only provide relief to the consumers, but building of water storage would also enable the country to fulfil its water requirements.
